“You’re so broken you don’t even trust yourself anymore.” Nat (S1, E4) He had an image of what a woman should be and didn’t accept anything else, which is gross. He wanted things like tans, short skirts and heels, but hated body hair, girls who talked “like boys,” and sandals with no pedicures. On one occasion, she didn’t seem to lie when explaining Nate’s views on women.Īpparently Nate made a long list of what he liked and hated about women, and they were all superficial and showed how he viewed the world. “He made a long mental checklist of things he liked and disliked about women.” Diamond (S1, E2)ĭespite being the voice behind most episodes, Rue has proven to be an unreliable narrator at times, having lied on several occasions. He ran over Fez for his drug dealing and leaving school early, gave him a highly offensive name and claimed he was stupid. Instead of walking away or even doing something like threatening back to Fez, Nate chose to punch him. Fez only stood up for his friend and warned Nate not to follow Rue. That happened again when he finally confronted Fez in the penultimate episode of Season 1. “You’re like half an AR*****.” Nat (S1, E7)Īs previously mentioned, Nate tends to say offensive things whenever he gets the chance. It played a role in season 2 when Maddy broke up with him and although she almost went back to him, she grew up as a person who understood she deserved better. She knew he was doing terrible things and that he made her feel terrible. Still, Maddy understood what was going on and explained it in the season one finale. Nate treated Maddy with little respect, but there was something about him that she kept coming back to, and she admitted that she loved him. Many fans believed Maddy and Nate were perfect for each other because they were both toxic at times. Most of the time I really hate the way you make me feel.” Maddy (S1, E8) It showed exactly the kind of person he is and proved his influence as McKay never fully accepted Cassie as anything other than a sex object. His friend McKay was interested in her, but instead of supporting that, Nate brought up her sexual past, showed leaked photos and videos of her, and said this line. This was immediately apparent in the first episode of the series when he said disgusting things about Cassie. Nate has an absurd notion of what it means to be a “man,” which shows in his toxic masculinity and many things he says. “You want my advice? You fuck her like the whore she is.” Nat (S1, E1) Cal isn’t entirely to blame for who Nate became, but he played a big part. Nate opened up about his feelings towards his father, including that line, and acknowledged that they are both terrible people. Things came to a head in the finale when Nate found out where Cal lived and brought a gun to talk to him.ĭespite not using the gun, the scene was tense throughout. “We both get off hurting other people” Nat (S2, E8)įor most of Season 2, Nate found himself getting closer and closer to confronting his father about his past of dating younger men. While Nate is correct in saying that Cassie is fake, it also shows his hypocritical side considering he has already blackmailed Jules. That was highlighted in the argument they got into during “You Who Cannot See, Think of Those Who Can” when Cassie suggested blackmailing him into a more serious relationship. However, it quickly became clear that this relationship was unhealthy for both of them. “You can’t fucking blackmail me into a relationship with you.” Nat (S2, E4)Īfter being one of the more likable characters in euphoria Season 1, Cassie falling in love with Nate Jacobs had all sympathies for her in season 2. Nate knew she was doing this and didn’t care what allowed her to get deeper into this toxic relationship. She lost friendships, the respect of others, and even a place to live simply because she was totally committed to her false idea of love. So this line makes perfect sense.Ĭassie, in many ways, threw everything away for Nate. She quickly fell in love with Nate, ignored everyone around her telling her it was a bad move, betrayed Maddy and more. There’s no doubt that Cassie Howard made a lot of bad decisions during season two. “I ruined my whole life for you.” Cassia (S2, E6) The casual rhythm with which he brought up something so devastating for Jules showed how little he cared about her. In this episode Jules was seen pointing out that she is afraid of Nate and the things he might do and this was his response.
